AmeriPlan Scam
69Buyers Beware
According to the personal experience of a former Ameriplan Representative's Rip-off Report, a group of self-employed contractors [who are in my close personal network], a dismissed broker of AmeriPlan and a Federal Reveiw, impresses me like the scandal of the AL Williams [A no name company, led by a high school football coach revolutionized the life insurance industry.] scandal in the 70s.

Ameriplan seems to be one of the most legit business on the market today. Feel free to watch the "complete" presentation and visit the corporate offices, I am certain you would see the same. AL Williams was a revolutionary company that helped many people. I met Hubert Humphrey personally and was impressed with his new company World Leadership Group, and his previous company of World Financial Group. Scammed is a VERY strong word to use on anyone or anything.
I was scammed by WLG... Beware!!
Hey smart guy, Ameriplan explains upfront that they do not provide health insurance and that by joining ameriplan you can get a discount from a health care professional.Do you even know how ameriplan can do this? I do and I learned all this by watching the presentation one time, I,m not even in Ameriplan.
Joel
scam!!!
Hey I am living proof that Ameriplan works!!! I just got started and i've made 1200.00 in the first 2 weeks. Its real people NOT A SCAM at all.
Oh...and another thing. Did you actually take the time to read the so called WARNING? There are millions of members who are very satisfied with the product we offer. As far as people being able to get discounts without a card this is true but not as much will be discounted. Physicians make far more money when you pay out of pocket vs insurance because the prices are 500% over what they should be and that's whay insurance companies pay a doctor $70.00 instead of $350.00 for an office visit. This is WRONG!
I have read several pages and various websites about the Ameriplan scam tonight. First the Ameriplan company based in Plano, TX IS a legit company. Has the highest rate with the Dallas BBB. Has been featured on PBS in a very positive way. I could go on. Second, apparently there is an Ameriplan Financial company that appears to be a scam. This company is apparently the one offering some kind of credit card and discount card for $249. Ameriplan based in Plano NEVER had a time to get started with the company for $249. Third and final is if you are going to talk about a company, get the facts straight, get the correct name of the company and what it truely does. To find out what Ameriplan in Plano is all about visit their website and find out the true facts. And yes I am an IBO, an RSD in fact and your success with the real Ameriplan (or any company for that matter) is being truthful, ethical and applying yourself. I have met personally both Bloom brothers and several of the NVP's and I would trust them with NO reservations! Again, check for facts before saying anything about any company or anyone. Be Dream Achievers and builders, don't tear people down. tearing people down only tears you down.
But with which company were they scammed with? Ameriplan Financial or I also found out recently there is an American Plan dental program???
JazLive All I can say is I feel sorry for you if you can't tell the difference between AmeriPlan and Ameriplan Financial. If a few reps were mislead or did not read the agreement before signing the dotted line and felt cheated compared with the tens of thousands IBO's and the 100s of thousands members who are satisfied then you must be someone just lookng at the negative of everything and distrust everyone. I have been invited to who knows how many network marketing companies and the ONLY one I ever joined is AmeriPlanUSA, Plano, TX because of the caliber of Dennis and Daniel Bloom. Being checked out by PBS, Highest rating available by the Dallas BBB, not to mention the lawyers of all the Fortune 500 company's that AmeriPlanUSA works with. Do you know more than the lawyers? I am not very big in the company, currently only a RSD, but I have never lost any money with them, their checks have never bounced and I misplaced a check and did not realize it for about a year and a half and when I advised AmeriPlan they issued another check to me. Doesn't sound like a scam to me. Maybe you are upset with AmeriPlanUSA for some reason and have a Vendetta against them or you don't have your facts straight and think AmeriPlan USA and Ameriplan Financial with it's apparently bogus $2000 credit card is the same company when it is NOT.
I never bought into Ameriplan as a business or a benefit, but know a rep who created great income and then lost his home after getting involved in the business. What disturbs me most is Mark Jarvis leaving Ameriplan to start his own MLM under the name of Zurvita.Right now the push is a discount coupon service that can be gotten free if one searches on the internet, so why build an MLM around something that is free? There are also dead links to upcoming 'health benefits" and "legal benefits" programs... so I guess whether Ameriplan works or is a scam, he is thinking he will get a MUCH BIGGER piece of the pie going out on his own. Looks like with the legal benefits, he'll be competing with PrePaid Legal.I'm not really happy that Mr. Jarvis is promoting it the way he is. I don't believe in using "God" or any other entity of that nature as a 'marketing or recruiting tool." But that's just my opinion.
I read these comments and I must admit that it is a shame that us "work from home seekers" cant trust any work from home company because of all the SCAMS out there.
In November of 2006 I worked for AmeriplanUSA. They had a temporary Bonus where if you enroll something like 6 members and 4 brokers with in thirty days you'll get a $500 bonus. I had gotten the bonus in less than two weeks, plus the commission (residual) that I earned for enrolling the members and brokers.
It was a little overwhelming for me and I didnt know how to be a TRUE leader as majority of the people that I hired were older than me asking me how I got to Regional Sales Director (one step up from a broker). Plus, some brokers didnt have the commitment that I had so if they quit I would have to stay on top of my game and replace them.
Im now jobless after working retail in Manhattan. I just hate standing on my feet for seven hours making only 10.50 an hour! It's brutal.
I think to myself now: "How much money would I have in residual if I would have stuck with Ameriplan and not get discouraged when a member or broker I enrolled quit on me".
So with that said, Im going to re-enroll and start from scratch.
Within one month of me working at home I made about $600 by choosing the Advanced payment option with the company (they pay you 6 months in advanced for each member or broker) that was my first month(not including my bonus). I worked hard. That may not seem like a lot to money but that was a start. Its a shame I didnt go forth.
Its basically building a chain and when a link breaks (a broker or member) replace it so that you can continue making it longer (Building residual, making more money).
It's a hussle. Thats the truth, but Id rather hussle and build an income than work in retail and make crap.
To sum it up, if your not willing to stay on the phone and talk to people interested in working from home then dont work for Ameriplan. If you get easily discouraged, dont work for Ameriplan. If you dont truly believe in what your doing, dont work for Ameriplan. When I started, I was making good sales, than I got discouraged and stopped believing and I stopped making sales.
Its truly amazing how you operate your mind and goals when you believe in what you do.
Other than that, I hope this message helped. Simply compare this opportunity with all the other work from home jobs. I did, and thats why Im coming back.
If you think you found a better opportunity, let me know. I havent found not one other than this one.

I worked with Ameriplan and it can work. It is not a scam although they advertise like one. Be careful which site you send prospects too. Now, if you are going to work for Ameriplan, you can earn a decent living after a spell, however you will have to invest about $200. at least each month to do this. Those phone calls cost a lot of money. They training calls alone doubled my phone bill. You are charged $50. month to be an IBO. You also pay for the much needed business cards & postcards or brochures. Leads are expensive. Discount leads are expensive. You can write all of this off when you do your taxes, but for some people that's their rent, mortgage, gas, bus, train &/or grocery money. Ameriplan requires an investment of time and money. Like any other investment, you will need to count the cost before you get started. If you can hardly afford to pay your rent, you may want to hold off on this investment & try something that is actually free (except business cards). You can not be successful with Ameriplan if you do not do the training calls, call at least 50 leads per day ($1. per lead = $50. day), do some foot work & put those business cards, brochures and postcards out there. It's very risky to put this on a credit card with the hopes of making it all back by the time the card burns out. Also, consider what may happen if Obama becomes president & his healthcare plan passes. Many people will drop or not do Ameriplan & do his plan. Many workers will drop because they are losing members. I would say that if you really want to do Ameriplan and you have at least $200. extra per month, do it, work it hard & invest the money, so that when Obama becomes president & his plan passes and Ameriplan begins to sink, you will have gotten a good return on you tiime & money.
There are tons of ways to be successful in Ameriplan without having to spend the type of money Janet mentioned. I would be happy to talk more with anyone interested in finding out more via email correspondance. Feel free to contact me at elie.ameriplan@gmail.com
Ameriplan is a real company and is not a scam...I have read lots of people complaining about ameriplan...I must say Ameriplan isn't perfect..who is! But alot of times its a misunderstanding or the person who brought them into the business or as a member said the wrong things to them...like for example I have seen that people are saying that ameriplan comes off saying that they are insurance...and that is not true! Do your research people! Alot of times for ex reps they complain just because they didn't follow the rules and broke them and then didn't like the fact that they were no longer a rep...and blamed ameriplan...when really it was their fault!
I also agree with Cris, very true!
I am also running a promotion where I'd be willing to pay your $95 start up fee for you, so email me at elie.ameriplan@gmail.com and we can talk more.
BIG NEWS! $25 StartUp Promo from 29th Aug to 30th Sept. Just 25 bucks to becme an IBO with Ameriplan. Contact me and let's get you signed up! elie.ameriplan@gmail.com.
Ameriplan has been very real for us, not only as a consumer but now business owner as well.
I wrote an in depth article on Ameriplan and how folks could feel scammed on this link. Just be careful of the team you join. Some people really run numbers and don't give the help needed.
Biz owners can start up for only $25.00 for the month of September.
Good luck in your venture it is very real!
The new prescription contract they have is saving people 100's a month

You can also call me at 347-240-1311 and I will be happy to tell you the ins and outs of the business and show you exactly how this company can work for you.
Don't forget, it's just $25 to sign up from August 29th to September 30th. If you can afford a large pizza with extra cheese and pepperoni, you can afford to own your own business with Ameriplan.
Before you say you don't have $25, ask yourself: based on what I am doing right now, how long would it take me to make enough money to get the things my family wants? And yes it is tough, but am I at least willing to try? Am I willing to get the tools and learn how to run my own business so I can keep making money month after month, year after year?
It's sort of like making cake. There are those people who want to make cake by just adding water for fear their cake won't turn out right. Then there are those who are willing to take the time to get the ingredients, get the recipe and the right tools so that they can make cake on their own, no matter how it turns out at first. Sure, the "just add water" cake tastes good. But when it's done, you have nothing left. You have not done anything.
But if you take the time to learn, as time passes, your cake will get better and better. You may start investing in higher quality ingredients and high quality mixing tools and soon people will want you to teach them how to do what you do; all because you took the time and made an honest commitment to learn this new skill.
The same is true with working for Ameriplan. More millionaires are made in this field than any other field, yet people do not want to take it seriously. It may be because they do not want to admit that the only difference between them and someone who becomes successful running an Ameriplan business is that they were willing to work hard and learn a new skill. They threw away their excuses. They said "I will commit. I'll give it time. I will not just add water."

Montana State Auditor John Morrison announced he has reached a settlement agreement with AmeriPlan to resolve allegations of insurance and securities fraud. In July, Morrison issued a cease and desist order after charging AmeriPlan USA, its founding officers, Dennis and Daniel Bloom, and Shirl Shelley, a Montana resident, with numerous violations of both the Montana Insurance Code and the Montana Securities Act. The action taken against AmeriPlan was the first of its kind in Montana, relying on a new law governing medical care discount cards. Morrison requested the legislation last session to ensure that medical care discount card providers were legitimate before they were allowed to sell their products in Montana.

"This settlement agreement serves to remind medical discount card companies that protecting Montanans is our number one priority," said Morrison. "If discount card providers refuse to play by our new rules, they will pay the price and won't be allowed to operate in Montana."
Under the agreement, AmeriPlan must pay an administrative fine of $200,000 and create a restitution fund for Montana customers who were duped by the company. Montana customers of AmeriPlan can expect to receive a letter informing them that they are eligible to submit a claim to the restitution fund. In addition, AmeriPlan is banned from marketing and selling its products in Montana for two years.
AmeriPlan and its agents and officers were accused of failing to contract with the medical care providers (including doctors, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants and hospitals) they advertise as participants in AmeriPlan's medical care discount program. The Auditor alleged that more than 700 Montana AmeriPlan members in the state were unable to use the discount cards because there were few, if any, providers in Montana. Additionally, AmeriPlan is charged with conducting an illegal pyramid promotional scheme because it sold "broker packages" for the purpose of recruiting memberships. Because the memberships were for discounts that did not exist, Morrison alleged there was no actual product being sold. AmeriPlan's largest source of income in Montana was from the sales of these "broker packages," according to the Auditor's charging document.
According to the auditor, AmeriPlan's website and other advertising, including oral assertions from some of its agents, claimed to have medical care providers, dentists, and chiropractors contracted to provide a significant discount through the purchase of its card. When the Auditor's office investigated these claims they were unable to find a medical care provider or chiropractor who honored the discount cards. The only dentist who had contracted with AmeriPlan was located in Forsyth and was on probationary status with the Montana Board of Dentistry for his unlawful activities in Colorado. The new law requires the discount card companies to have contracts for services with providers located within a 60 mile radius of the card holder.
The company was told to stop its activity in Nov. 2005 but AmeriPlan continued to market its discount cards until the matter was referred to Morrison's legal staff in late April. Additional charges included securities fraud, using deceptive or fraudulent practices in the marketing of their discount cards, selling unregistered securities by unregistered salespersons and failure to stop marketing the cards when they were not properly registered.
"With insurance premiums on the rise consumers are searching for ways to obtain medical care coverage at a manageable cost," said Morrison. "These fake discount card operators are preying on folks who are trying to find alternative solutions to the high cost of heath insurance. Our main goal is protecting Montanans while aggressively pursuing those bad actors in the industry who are exploiting the health care crisis facing consumers."
The settlement agreement can be found at www.mt.gov/sao. Montananswith questions regarding the settlement are being directed to call the State Auditor's Office at 800-332-6148.

How great is Ameriplan? I am considering joining. I have 2 small children and want to be home with them. Ameriplan sounds great. Anything bad about the company I need to know about before I go ahead?
If you click on the link at the top (link in the 5th comment box) and actually read it, the heading is "Is Ameriplan USA a scam", not "Ameriplan Warning". Read the article and you will see that the person who put that link on here obviously did not. It is a very good review for Ameriplan.
The link I spoke of above also says toward the end that the "71 flavors" that are mentioned above are from customers who did not understand what they were reading. Anyone who pays attention knows exactly what Ameriplan is and the people who need it usually cannot afford health insurance from an insurance company or they are younger people who don't need the whole kit-an-kaboodle, so they use Ameriplan to get just what they need at a great price. No, I do not work for Ameriplan; I have just known about them for many, many years.
This is just rediculous. If you post things on here you should at least read the whole thing first. I am now speaking of the link below the YouTube video below that begins with "Latest job fair". In the middle of that article it mentions people outside the arena giving out pamphlets for jobs to supposedly make you rich; Ameriplan is mentioned in this part but, if you read further you will see that it says that Ameriplan is a legitimate business that was allowed to show inside the arena where the 'get rich quick' schemes were not.
Keep on screaming mate - Appreciate your fanship and chatting at SX
I always get nervous when a thread is started with " I heard from a friend of a friend who is a friend..." Anyway I was wondering if you could tell me about federal reviews opion
Ameriplan USA ReviewIs Ameriplan USA A Scam?
When looking for a great home based business, I came across the Ameriplan USA. This business seems to offer a good deal of perks for those who are brave enough to take on a home based business. Most of the fly-by-night companies do not offer much of anything except training support. They are nothing more than a pyramid business with no options or benefits.
Below are some of the benefits I have seen that Ameriplan USA offers:
- They have an advantage over the fly-by-night businesses and that is longevity. Ameriplan was created in 1992 and is still going strong.
Warning! We have spent $113,317 testing and reviewing different opportunities and money making strategies. Whether it's stock market investing, real estate investing, internet marketing, direct mail, MLM, or buying a franchise, we've been scammed, cheated, and lied to! It took testing hundreds of opportunities to find out what works and what doesn't. If you want to find out what is making us an excellent income from home then........ -They offer a good product that millions of Americans actually need. It is well known that perhaps the best way to make money is to focus on a need that people have. If you can fill that need, you have a good money maker. The statistics of the Census Bureau show the number of uninsured Americans is currently at a record high of nearly 46.6 million. Ameriplan offers people a practical solution that is reasonably priced. Their membership offers a discounted healthcare membership network that can save people money on medical care as well as dental procedures, prescriptions, vision, chiropractic services to name a few.
- Reasonably priced services and products that everyone can benefit from. Memberships to Ameriplan can start at around $11.95 per month for an individual and as low as $19.95 per month for a whole family.- They offer their “new business partners” a benefit package where most other companies offering home based business opportunities do not. That alone makes them exceptional.
-They offer an excellent Business Opportunity. This is the ideal business plan as it is very easy to do with little work. Ameriplan does not require licensing, office space, inventory or even employees. They offer a solid pay structure, utilizing a multi-level marketing pay structure.
Their representatives do not hound people to try to get them to sell their product. The product seems to sell itself. There have been bad reviews listed from the consumers in the past, but
most seem to be from misconceptions. They think they are buying a health plan like those offered from major medical insurance carriers there for, when they do not get the same copay’s, they are disappointed. They are looking for a quick fix and aren’t sure how to utilize the discounted medical plan that Ameriplan has to offer. More people today are turning to plans such as Ameriplan, as most medical facilities accept most all types of insurance plans.

I just started with ameriplan and am in the process of my training. I popped on the internet to see if there was anything else about the company I could be informed of. I found this blog site and am reading good and bad. Now I am confused. I need to work at home I have 3 small children which makes it impossible to work outside the home. So far I have been confident, but after reading all this scam crap on here I am becoming very sceptical. can anyone give me some insight on this. I can hardly afford my rent now and am in college so I really do not want to do something I will regret. And what is this talk about obama winning over ameriplen with his own insurance plan? Help I do not understand.
Ameriplan is a great very responsible company! And has never scamed anyone! Plus it is cheap
I don't think Ameriplan is a Scam... I barely started and is not like other "jobs from home" I'm really skeptical about this "jobs from home" so I do like to do a lot of research before taking any step forward... however you need to understand that "INTERNET" now is another field where people and companies will use to help their busineses to grow... the same way people can fool you in a "real" job, Don't tell me you haven't heard that.. I've heard people complaining about places and companies... or even in the news when people take the time to create a fake office and stuff like that... so anyways...
If you think ameriplan is a scam, then don't join but I just tell you... go further in your research you'll find the truth like I did...
I started few days ago and I feel really confident... and I tell you I was really skeptical.
I think that everyone should always do research on a company before jumping right in. I have to say that although Ameriplan is one large corporation, each individual is their own boss. So is someone is getting ripped off they should file a complaint with their IBO (Independent Business Owner). It just may be that that particular person is not following standard procedures. I'm not with Ameriplan but I did my homework and they are suppose to approve all online ads. But how many people do you think actually will send in something to be approved when they can just quickly do it themselves and get it over with.
Some people will complain because they don't do their research and see that you will not make money overnight. Some of us as Americans want instant gratification without actually working for it. They just need to take their time and research the BBB about the main corporation, not just independent business owners; which are also listed in the BBB.
As a registered nurse, I know first hand what Ameriplan did for a patient in our hospital. The patient did not have insurance so, when it was time to pay the bill, Ameriplan's advocacy group came in and renegotiated the patient's bill. A $12,000 bill was knocked down to $943.64. It is amazing to see people who do not do their research on a company that has a health benefits product like no other. I will not be back on this board so keep complaining to yourself.....you people are so mislead about this company it is really quite pathetic.
Joeann, BSN, RN and Ameriplan Independent Business Owner
I too am a new Ameriplan IBO in training and it is awesome Jazliv you need to get a life you sound like a disgruntled Ameriplan IBO that thought it would come to you without working do you know nothing is free unless you work hard all this bogus information about Ameriplan needs to stop some of thes other home business charge much more stuffing envelopes,Meleluca with products you can not use and all these other at least you can get discounts and these small towns complaining about no providers that is with anything if towns small and Montana the real country so maybe not enough I live in Cali and I have use the service my town have about 52 vision including Walmart and Sears, about 75 dentist so in depends where you live and if you live in a one horse town what do you expect if you have 10 places and 4 take discount that is not Ameriplan fault your town does not have enough care for you anyway.
All I can say is I am both saving money and making money. Too often too many people cry and complain about given circumstances in their life and lack the ambition to make a change; it one way of another. I love the AmeriPlan opportunity and the savings I personally have ewperienced!
the bottom line is do your research, if you live in a market where many providers are available, the business opportunity is there, as a member you have providers to get the benefits...you live in a state like montana, HELLO! the least populated state in the country i believe...I"ve done my research, and I will be joining for both member benefits and the IBO opportunity...you bleeding heart victim mentality morons go WAY out of your way to provide a site and contribute to a site to get other losers a license to whine and damage a reputable company like Ameriplan...
Jazlive, you need to get a job or some hobbies. You seem to have too much time on your hand with all your ignorant rants. Ameriplan USA is a great opportunity for people who need work, but for some reason cannot or choose not to work outside the home. As a mother of four under the age of 6, I choose not to work outside the home while I pursue my MBA, so that I do not lose time with my children. Ameriplan has given me the freedom to do so. I researched it for days prior to making the decision to join as on IBO. I don't know how you can call this company a scam when out of @ million plus members you have only found what was that 80 something complaints. You obviously are an uneducated fool. It is up to us as a consumer to read and research everything before we decide to buy or join anything. Those who don't have noone to blame but themselves. Anyone who is thinking of purchasing or joining as an IBO, do your homework and you'll see that this IS a GREAT opportunity to anyone who is willing to do the work. I have done other work from home jobs, but I wasn't satisfied with the the way I am with Ameriplan USA. So Jazlive, does this mean you will begin calling Google, Craigslist, etc... scams since there are scams using their name and logo? There are several large companies out there whose names are being used to scam people but if you look into it you can find which is which. As for the Montana residence, they were fooled only by their own stupidity. Why, when there is a link to view providers, did they not look before signing up as a memeber? Yes, Ameriplan settled because sometimes in the long run it is easier to settle than to keep accruing court costs, attorneys fees, wasted time, etc... Finally, as to the sharing of information. It was not Ameriplan's idea to do this, but rather the requirements of the Federal Trade Commission. Many of the Representatives of Ameriplan USA tried to dispute the passing of this law, but obviously it still went into play. So you need to do your homework before you start sharing your ignorance among those who are foolish enough to listen and believe it. This IBO opportunity is the same as any other job. You have to do the work to get the results you want. If you sit back and do nothing, nothing will happen. If you want to make money you have to work at it. The harder you work the better the results. You can also generate your own leads. Everytime you're at the grocery store talk to people in the line. Talk to other parents from your children's schools. You'd be surprised how much you can help families who are underinsured and make money by just talking to someone at the same, normal, everyday places you already go. I wish you all the best of luck in all that you do whether it's with Ameriplan or not. Jazlive, I wish you luck at finding some hobbies, a job, and/or ending your ignorance.
I also found this link, which I believe you should read. It's in reference to complaints filed about Ameriplan USA.
I am not "attacking" you because we disagree. I am merely pointing out that you are only telling things one sided. You are are making it seem as if Ameriplan is just some huge scam and that people should avoid the business and service opportunities because of a few complaints and one rediculous law suit. When I am working I am extremely professional. With you I see no point in being so, since quite obviously you seem intent on making people who work for Ameriplan, such as myself, seem like scam artists. I take that as an insult. I would never slander a company or try to get people to stay away from it because out of more than 2 million people I have found about 80 complaints. That IS ignorance. I don't need your link to find a "real job", since I am quite successful and happy with my work as it is. I've done the "real job" before and I'd rather wait till I get my degree before I return to working in an office setting. What you don't realize is, that many of us are stay at home mothers who need to make income but still want to raise our children, rather than having a daycare or nanny do it for us. It's honest, hardworking, passionate people who do what we do. Now granted, I'm not saying every single person in the company is, but every large and small company has their share of bad apples. I think you should just do more homework, before you decide to slander anyone. Obviously you didn't. Yippie, you were person of the week!!! You must be proud. I could go on with a list of commendations and awards I've received, but it doesn't make you a better person to receive them...it just means at some point you did better than someone else. Temporarily. I really hope that that wasn't the highlight of your oh so wonderful life though.
I went to your link, yet once again, that is a scam reguarding Ameriplan Financial. Our company never sells a card with a balance of $2500.00 for $249.00. Check your facts and resources. What we offer is priced at $20.00 and $30.00. Our IBO is priced at $95.00 to start and $50.00 to maintain. Really, educate yourself before you start making your accusations.
Hello,
I am new to blogging but did come across the Ameriplan offer and I am just as skeptical. Especially since I have tried about 4 or 5 other home businesses that did not pan out for me. I do not have a problem doing hard work as long as it is a legit business and I can make money and prosper from it. I have not quite signed up with Ameriplan yet, I want to but I am still in the research stage. I am unemployed and it had not been determined if I will recieve unemployment. I would really like to take advantage of this business opportunity if it is not a scam. From my research I am leaning towards it not being classfied as a scam but would like some more evidence.
Shanne....
if you check with the U.S Chamber of Commerce, Free Trade Commission, and the Dallas Better Business Bureau, you will see that this company is completely legit. Yes, there is another company out there by the name of Ameriplan Financial who is scamming people using the pretense of being our company. If you see where they offer a card with a $2500 limit for $249, that's the scam. Yes, Ameriplan was sued, and did settle. The law suit was rediculous, since those who claimed to have been "scammed" failed to check for providers in their areas before purchasing. Ameriplan did settle for $200,000. Sometimes it's easier to settle than to drag out a long and extremely costly court battle though. So I encourage you to do your homework first, but you will see that it is ultimately a great company to go into business with. There are no promises of making $10,000 a week but if you put in the effort, you will see a nice return on your work.
I stumbled upon AmeriPlan accidently while looking for jobs. I checked out this site because I wanted to read and check out everything both positive and negative about it. The thing is...I haven't been able to find anything negative about this company that doesn't seem to be disputed by all the positive comments. As for the Montana thing, even insurance companies don't honor their own contracts and pay out like their supposed to. One of the things that appealed to me about AmeriPlan is that they offer a discount for their IBO's which is great for people like me with health problems that can't get insurance. After hearing what they do for people in the hospital, I don't feel like I have anything to lose. I've talked to one of your reps, she's like me, she worked in the health care field and has seen traditional insurance fail a lot of us. This site actually helped me make this decision, I'll be contacting a rep.
You folks may be making money and in some instances AmeriPlan may help folks with their medical bill. However, the information above from Kai regarding the leagl decision AGAINST AmeriPlan speaks volumes to me. If the company was totally above board they would not have had this decision or fine or be making payments to consumers as a result. Of course every person should do their research before signing up for a plan. But a business should have a fail-safe in place to reject applications where there are no providers. I see many offers on line that indicate areas or states where there services are not available. There are many companies that have created very lucrative opportunities for their representatives only to find later that their practices were predatory in nature. As an example; Somone above spoke of WLG (World Leadership Group). I know a couple of folks that have done VERY well with this company. Literally going from paycheck to paycheck to quitting their job and being self sustaining through WLG. I also know several people that purchased homes through WLG who have now lost those homes because of the types of mortgages they were put into. They were given certain assurances and now are just a** out. You may be making money, but it doesn't mean that the company does not have certain questionable or predatory practices. This is, again, evidenced by the $200,000 legal decision against AmeriPlan Texas mentioned above in Kai's comments.
I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF AMERIPLAN FOR THREE YEARS NOW, NOT AS AN EMPLOYEE. I HAVE TO SAY THATI'M SURPRISED ABOUT THE THINGS I'M READING. I ACTUALLY LOVE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING THIS MEMBERSHIP. WHEN I FIRST JOINED, THERE WEREN'T ANY PROVIDERS IN MY AREA, BUT THE REP TOLD ME IF I EVER TRAVELED OUT OF TOWN WHERE THERE WERE, I WOULD STILL GET THE SAME BENEFITS. AND I DID. IT WASN'T UNTIL ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO THAT THERE WERE SOME HERE. MAYBE THAT'S WHY THEY SOLD TO PEOPLE IN MONTANA. SO THEY COULD SAVE IF THEY TRAVELED. I TRAVEL ABOUT HALF THE YEAR FOR MY WORK, AND THERE WERE TIMES THAT I GOT SICK AND EVEN BROKE A TOOTH. SO I USED MY MEMBERSHIP TO SAVE THE MONEY. IF PEOPLE IN MONTANA BOUGHT THIS, THEY SHOULD HAVE CHECKED FOR THEMSELVES. MAYBE THAT'S WHY THEY DON'T HAVE A "FAIL-SAFE" SYSTEM. HOW MANY TIMES HAS FORD, WAL-MART, TARGET, K-MART, JC PENNY, AND MANY OTHER STORES BEEN SUED? DO YOU STILL SHOP THERE? NO MAJOR CORPORATION HAS A PERFECT HISTORY. MANY SETTLE OUT OF COURT SO THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A CLUE ABOUT THESE LAWSUITS. AND I AGREE WITH LORI, THEY PROBABLY SETTLED TO AVOID PAYING MORE LEGAL AND COURT FEES. NOW DAYS YOU CAN SUE ANYONE FOR ANYTHING. FOR EXAMPLE, THE STUPID LADY WHO SUED MC DONALDS BECAUSE HOT COFFEE BURNED HER. OR THE IDIOT WHO SUED THEM BECAUSE HE BECAME OVERWEIGHT EATING THERE, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE NUTRIONAL FACTS ON THEIR FOODS. HOW STUPID AND FOOLISH ARE THOSE LAWSUITS. YOU GET WHAT YU ASK FOR. ALL IN ALL, I'M EXTREMELY SATISFIED WITH MY EXPERIENCES WITH AMERIPLAN USA.
This whole blog is absolute NONSENSE! Ameriplan has been in business for over 16 years!!! How could a company be in business for that long and all that time be scamming people?? Ripoffreport is all garbage! they are a ripoff...i don't believe ANYTHING they have to say but isn't it amazing that people will believe that bogus website over 16 million members on Ameriplan's plans and over 60,000 people working for the company. There are way more satisfied customers and employees than NOT! People are just ignorant and uneducated and unfortunately they are out there trying to ruin it for others who desperately need benefits or a legitimate work from home opportunity.
I worked for United Parcel Service for 15 years. After my second knee surgery at age 34 my doctor told me i have to find a new job( do to the arthritic problem in my knee). I have done my research on Ameriplan you get what you put into it. If your lazy you dont make any money. If you put time and effort into it, you make money. I am an (IBO) and i do everthing by the book and i let new clients that this is not medical coverage it is to save additional money on medical bills and to cut cost by 50 to 80% my family and i use Ameriplan and we are very satisfied. I average about $3000 to $4100 a week now ! more than i ever thought i could make. I make sure everone who wants to make a change is dedicated and wants to be succesful thats my job because i am an(IBO) Hope this helps for NEW work at home seekers. Also reach me at halowayne@yahoo.com love to chat and tell you about the buisness.
I'm also someone thinking of signing up for Ameriplan as a new ibo member. I really liked what I saw at their website and know it isn't insurance. I work for jackson hewitt and this year we have a similar product. This type of product is not a scam it really works. It's not meant to be insurance, but as a way for people to save money on their medical costs if they don't have insurance or don't have enough. If something isn't covered by insurance then at least you don't have to pay the full cost. I'm impressed by the fact that they have been in business for 16 years. I actually wanted to sell insurance with companies like combined insurance, but they didn't think I'd get through the licensing exams. So I'm thinking that maybe this is more at my level than actual insurance. I want to do something that has me interfacing with the public with something they actually need and want and practical for today. I would have to say that this most definitely fits that need with insurance so expensive and so many people without it especially in todays times of the rough economy. As to some of the complaints I've heard well I think they are mainly misconceptions because some don't realize this is not insurance, but a health savings plan. Also the complaint about no providers can be resolved if they check for providers beforehand. I live in North Central IL up by Chicago and there are providers in my town even so I know there is a market for this offering in my area and I really like the idea. I'm actually going more to the way of self employment anyway. I've been working for jackson hewitt for the past 3 years and am now planning on doing taxes on my own. I'm going to set it up this tax season with the intention to do it more full time next tax season, but new businesses take time to develop. I like this fact about Ameriplan that it doesn't boast overnight success. Real successful businesses take time and effort to materialize into something wonderful. I was actually contacted on myspace by the upline and surprisingly she also works for jackson hewitt in Indiana. I think Ameriplan can work very well for someone that has worked for jackson hewitt cause you have to interface with the public in that arena and the same applies to Ameriplan. As to if I like talking on the phone well I'd have to say that considering every week I talk on the phone with my dad for 4+ plus hours every week. It isn't just my dad, I love to talk to people in person and on the phone. This won't be a problem for me. I intend on making the time to make the contacts and do the training. I'm hoping it won't be too intensive like the insurance training was going to be cause I'm also in college though I do go online to Kaplan University. I'm a single mom and I'd like to stay home with my son who is 7 rather than constantly fight with the babysitter cause I didn't get home on time or because there is some issue with her. I really think this could be something great for me to do. I'm still in the research stage, but I'm just about sold as the consensus seems to be that they are a great company to work for and to get great savings. I read some of their testimonials from IBOs and members and I have to say I almost fell out of my seat with some of the results. I'd like to learn more about their legal help as I'm going through a divorce and it'd be nice to have legal help in that area. The online counseling seems fantastic also. So far I like everything I have heard about them, but am going to keep doing the research. I have been burned in the past and was almost a victim of the wire transfer scam, chain letter scam. I also received a check once from FedEx in the amount of $3000 that was handwritten from a grocery store in Washington. After careful research I determined that someone got ahold of their check stock and wrote false checks. My ex and I were once a victim of the advance fee loan scam where you put money up front to get a loan. We paid $700 to get $5000 two weeks before Christmas in 2007. After they tried to get an additional $700 we did everything we could to get our money back and when we didn't this made me extra skeptical when it seems too good to be true. So like a lot of other people researching Ameriplan before committing I'm doing my research to make sure it isn't a scam and after my research thus far I'd say it's not. I have read all the comments and I'd have to say I'm very displeased with the bickering going on here. If you are a disgruntled employee it isn't going to make you happy to make others feel bad. Just move on and move up. If you don't think Ameriplan will work for you don't join and leave it at that. It's better to pass the word for actual scams than make a legitimate company that has been in the press and in business for 16 years look bad. There are so many real scams out there that we should be fighting to stop so don't stop the good ones.
its a scam - i got scammed- they stole my money - emphasis is NOT on selling the discount card- it is on building the pyramid - the discount card is useless- call the corporate hotline and ask for the exact dollar amount of the discount on a given prescription and they will tell you that they do not know - pyramid scheme all the way -
My area apparently only has 3 providers. So, for those of you who believe in AmeriPlan, would this be a worthwhile business opportunity? How would an IBO prosper with AmeriPlan in a location with so few providers?
Hey Folks. I just read what everyone wrote. I am an insurance broker in CO. I am a member of Ameriplan but not because I'm trying to make a million with them. I'm with them because I was looking for a more affordable option for my clients. To ad a dental insurance rider to your health insurance plan its $30+ a month and the benifits with most the companies aren't so great. One of my insurance friends mentioned ameriplan. I looked into it and was quote pleased with what they could offer my clients. I've put a lot of my clients with them and they are all very happy with the money they're saving AND their benifits. Ameriplan is a real company. The problem with America is that everyone wants to get paid for doing nothing. Theres no such thing as getting rich quickly. Selling Ameriplan is a lot like selling health insurance. You have to call people and sign them up. I'm not surprised that some people signed up, didn't work, didn't make money, and so automatically called it a scam.
Anyway, thats what I have to say about Ameriplan. My clients have been so happy with them that they've sent referals over.
Have a great day ya'll
I was scammed. I was told it would save me discounts on prescriptions. After changing over to Ameriplan from Walgreens, the prescriptions cost more money with Ameriplan than when I started with Walgreens. I was told I would get a refund.....then I was told to wait thirty days for the refund. After 45 days (today) and no response to my emails or phone calls, I'm told 'sorry, we don't give refunds". For those of you who want to give me negative response, feel free to refund my $95 if you believe in Ameriplan. To me it cost me money = scam.
Navarre, Elizabeth and any other individual seeking information on becoming an IBO with AmeriPlan.
I use the memberships myself and my family have saved hundreds of dollars, over $200 on just one pair of glasses for my teenage daughter. Also, being a part of this business has allowed me the flexibility to take care of a disabled parent, send two girls to college and pay my mortgage and my bills.
I've had the pleasure of meeting many of the top earners of this company at a leadership training in Detroit during the month of January 2009. These people were real and they love what they are doing...as do I. Our team has a great training site...and the environment is all about being part of a team.
Also, I have many members using the medical/dental plans. The plans work. We partner with all the major optical providers and pharmacies. You are welcome to visit my website and click on any of the videos, one of the links will take you directly to the interview with Morley Safer. AmeriPlan is a member in good standing of the US Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas Texas Retailer Association, and the National Association of Dental Plans. A prospective member or an existing member or IBO can look up prescriptions and see how much a prescription costs with the discount. The ability to look up providers in your area is also available on the site. There are links to news articles as well.
I am also a licensed insurance agent, and as with any company, the price for prescriptions may vary from one carrier to another. AmeriPlan does not represent that they will be the "lowest priced" prescription, but does represent that you will save money on your prescription and other services...a savings from 20-80%.
I ask, do we not have membership cards at wholesale clubs for less discounts than these? Do we not shop for sales? Yes, we do. Do we sometimes wish that the discount was bigger on that marked down item at the clothing store? Yes, we do. A discount is a discount...20-80%. For the senior market with no dental coverage, for the uninsured or underinsured, for the individuals that can't qualify for health coverage because of health conditions and for the families that can't afford the cost of health care coverage...AmeriPlan is a great alternative. That's what we are, an alternative to the high cost of health care...the trend of Consumer Driven Healthcare....One last point, AmeriPlan offers a great way to earn income from home, around your own schedule. It's not a vacation, it's takes a real comittment and desire to succeed. If you move, your business moves with you, unlike some other business opportunities. So, if you are ready to take your financial future in your own hands or knows someone that could benefit from our servcies, please visit www.ChangingLivesOneByOne.com
If you want to contact me to try to argue the fact, don't bother. I have first hand knowledge, experience and use of the services. I receive checks regularly and have had no problems with the business opportunity or the discounts offered.
For those of you genuinely interested in making a living from home, I'll be glad to answer any questions that you may have.
Be blessed.
Jazlive I think you need to get out more. Your comment on Tupperware being in discount stores like Kmart and Wal-Mart are totally untrue. They did, several years ago, try to sell some products at Target, but pulled them as they sell better through the independent consultants. Tupperware is NOT sold in any store except the RARE Tupperware store/kiosk at a mall. There are similar products, but they are cheap immitations which I wouldn't trust for anything.
As for Ameriplan, I've been doing research on them for quite a while, and when I have the money I will be joining as an IBO. Too many people around me have to live on unemployment which won't even cover most people's rent or mortgages let alone any kind of health coverage or discount plans. What's worse is most of the medical community has forgotten their oath to care for the sick regardless of ability to pay and charge outragous amounts for stupid stuff like administering a shot. Who can afford to pay $90+ for the doctor visit, another $20 + for someone to administer a shot and ???$ for the actual shot? I would love to have a way to get a discount on medical expenses for my family or even my 72 year old dad who can only get Medicare but makes less at the "Rats" house than a 18 year old flipping burgers. He sold insurance and couldn't even afford it himself. Too bad Ameriplan wasn't around and more known when he sold insurance, maybe my mom would still be alive.
Jaz, I would like to know your proof that Ameriplan is a scam? Have you ever worked for them, or tried them, and been out of money. Yes, we hear all these stories that you have to tell, but where is your hard evidence that this is a SCAM. I have researched it a lot, and I haven't found anyone that has actually put their money into this company, and has lost their money, or the company had taken off w/ their money, and they never received anything for what they paid. I would like to know your deffinition of scam, and prove to everyone that Ameriplan is a SCAM. Please inform us all... Thanks.
you know a company is good when there are more people defending the company than there are calling it a scam. Im becoming an ibo next week.
AMERIPLAN IS NOT A SCAM FYI for all you that are saying it is. Dont be mad just bc you dont understand it and how it works. Yeah it takes alot of work, but anything that you will do to make money takes hard work. SO before you start runnin your mouth just bc you wanna argue PLEASE get ur facts straight bc its simply annoying how ignorant people can be.
Just finished reading the entire page of comments. Interesting. I will say, I live in Georgia (USA). Been an Ameriplan IBO since end of Novemeber.
Have not used it's Medical or Dental benefits. I have used their Auto Club benefits (roadside assistance). More than once and didn't have to do anything but sign my name for the tow on two different occassions and having it towed a distance to my home, less than $20.00.
Ameriplan offers more than dental, medical. They offer discount legal, and retail discounts as well, as have a great discount Rx plan. It is never recommended that someone drop any type of discount plan such as walgreens (why would you do that?) Ameriplan discounts can be used in addition too. And now anyone paying over 90.00 a month in rx, can get their rx free through a rx plan Ameriplan has.
JazLive thanks for this HUB. I'm cant wait to sign-up for Ameriplan as an IBO this week. I was really worried until I read all these comments. I love how there were more people fighting for this company than disputing it! >>>TIP: I you want to discourage people form signing up with AmeriPlan maybe you should delete this post or start it over or something. It seems to be convincing more people to sign up than not.
SMOOCHES
I am stunned at how so many people think they are experts on Ameriplan and know nothing about it at all. What made you people who are slamming the company think you are experts? Have you ever worked for them? Have you ever gotten a check from them? Are you using their service? Well, we who are, love it! I will laugh at you every time I go to the bank with my residual check which grows month-by-month. Soon I will be making $100,000 a year with Ameriplan and that is just residual; from work I've done in the past. All the people who have earned good money at Ameriplan and are still doing so will smile at all you nay-sayers and say, you think what you want; we are happy and content. Isn't it amazing that the bad news or misunderstandings about any company, or anything for that matter, seems to be so much more popular than the positive and the good? What does that say about the human race? If you read every review on any product or company, you will find all kinds of dirt, but guess what....the things still work and are still going forward. So you nay-sayers about Ameriplan, you just keep saying bad things about it; you know you are afraid to do what we are doing; you don't have the courage to have your own business and make it work. And we wouldn't want you in our company. This is the only business there is out there with an investment of $50 that can make you a six-figure income in 3 to 5 years. Count on it. I've done the others. Nothing works but this as a homebased business. Have a nice life!
www.bringinguhome.com
Having just been taken to the cleaners by Ameriplan I can tell you that many of these postings are simply done - at the suggestion of the teams - inorder to sell or scam more people. They particularly suggest that you use software to do automatic article submissions so that you only write one article and it goes multiple places. This is just one of the multiple ways they tell you to do business. For every one of their people who truly did make big bucks, and it is interesting that every one of those 100's of emails an IBO gets from them that list of names never seems to change, their had to be many people like me to make that happen. What's legal may not necessarily be right. If you can stomach taking people, it will probably work for you, me I would rather be able to sleep at night.
@Julia Hernstedt
Oh give me a break, "I will laugh at you every time I go to the bank", you're the exact type of douchebag that AmeriPlan sucks in. The vapid airhead women that want to wave a check around to show how much better they are than you.
The only traces of your "business" I have found are interlinking blogs and BS PR reports that you've spammed out ( and no one has picked up ). Please, post up a screen of one of these residual checks.
If you do finally notch over $100k, congrats, that's the equivalent of $50k in the Irvine, CA area. I myself will laugh at you each time I look at my six figure salary that WASNT built on scamming others out of their income.
If you think Ameriplan is a Scam, you are stupid and retarded. Learn the real information before you start saying things you don't know first hand!
I've been with Ameriplan for 2 months, and have made over $4,500. And sure, Ameriplan does charge back your ADVANCE pay if the member cancels, but Ameriplan has a 90% retention rate, and I have yet to see one of my members cancel. So learn the facts before you dis-regard the company.
I have been considering becoming an IBO with Ameriplan. This blog has definately influinced my decission. I am looking forward to building my future with Ameriplan.
Jazlive, if your goal is to truly help people to not be scammed, and Ameriplan was truly a scam, well, your defying your own goals. Your idiocracies are leading people to the very path you claim to be trying to protect them from. It is obvious by your very negative efforts that you have an agenda. It is a shame that you do not focus that energy in a more constructive manner.
Kin check out my site if you want to know more about the company
For Nick, who's been with AmeriPlan for 2 months, and all the other deceived people on this site, let's get serious. AmeriPlan has never had a 90% retention rate nor will it ever. It's crazy to think that is possible of any multilevel marketing plan.
Though the website is not user friendly, I found out all I needed to know about Ameriplan. Just go to the Better Business Bureau website and you'll see: www.bbb.org/US/ When page comes up, select "for consumers" then when page comes up "check out business" then when form comes up enter only one thing, the name: Ameriplan USA and then click on "Search" A list will come up and click on the first one, Ameriplan corporate, click on that and right there before you is their BBB Relaibility Rating: a big fat "F" Then they proceed to explain why: 201 complaints for: difficulty cancelling service, misinforming about available providers (and it ain't just in Montana, though that should be a huge red flag!), and the best one: "unauthorized charges". Also, IBO's (the poor folks that got hooked into this me$$) having trouble cancelling their business "opportunity".
So there it is. You can't just go to BBB, put in the name and hope it comes up because they are NOT members! Someone mentioned 16 years - what a laugh. The evil twins (aka Dennis & Daniel) schemed for years before they hit on Ameriplan and prospered greatly. Now much of that gorgeous headquarters is in the dark (been on a "tour" lately?) The mortgage arm run by the "fiancee" of one of the twins is gone. So are a lot of the customer service people. So are the folks that used to recruit for more providers. Yep. All 200 or so of them. Health care reforms are coming and with them the end of the Ameriplan gravy train. Let's face it. Most decent dental and medical providers wouldn't touch this with a 10-foot pole because the fees are ridiculously low. If you join, be sure you check out the provider before you go. If you go to the yearly meeting, look around you: most of those people won't be back next year.
Yeah looks to me like everyone writing good things in New to the company. A few older members but I saw a news broadcast once that said any company asking you to pay to work for them is a fraud. I've never had a job where I had to pay the company monthly to be there. Maybe a union but not the company.
The Freedom At Home Team, the fastest growing team within AmeriPlan is now on tv. Watch for us on channels such as LIFETIME and OXYGEN. Why would this team or the founders make such a strong statement as to be on tv, if they were not offering legitimate services. Anyone can find negative with anything, I'm sure, if they look hard enough for it. Surely, any company that's been around for awhile and has had millions of customers, are going to have 'a few' disgruntled ones. Those same 'disgruntled' ones are probably disgruntled in many areas of their lives. Life is too short... LIVE and LOVE like you mean it. You can view our commercial and read/hear other PRO- HOME BUSINESS links on my site, http://www.dreamsrock.com. Even Warren Buffet, the 2nd top income earner in the United States, backs the home-based business idea. AmeriPlan may not be for everyone, but it for a majority. And yes, I am with AmeriPlan.
Rogaine 4 ewoks,
That's because you DON'T ever pay to have a 'job'. That is correct. AmeriPlan is a home-based business, not a 'job'. If you owned your owned business as a mechanic, barber, restaurant owner, etc., you would have some type of 'investment' and/or 'overhead'. The same is true with AmeriPlan or ANY OTHER legitimate home-based business. AmeriPlan just has a MINIMAL, I believe, unequally matched, investment/overhead for it's Independent Business Owners. Home, or away from home, you'll be looking for a good while to find a business you can call your own for what you can have one with AmeriPlan.
Ameriplan is not a scam it really is a legit company. I thought so to at first. if you are serious about working from home and willing to work hard. you won't get rich over night but over time the pay is nice.
if anyone has any questions about Ameriplan you can e-mail me HHintonIII@ameriplan.net
All I can say is……
When I was first introduced to Ameriplan in November 2007, it took me 3 months to finally become an Independent Business Owner due to all the negative junk I found on the internet when I was doing my research. I HAD to be SURE (there was no way I could share a company with people that wasn’t reputable). I almost bought into all that negative junk. Luckily, I based my decision on the FACTS (the company’s credentials) to finally join. EVERY negative comment I found was due to one of these reasons: a misunderstanding, not a good fit in the first place, not following procedure, expecting get rich quick or little effort, not working the business consistently or being accountable for one’s own success, trying to reinvent the wheel and failing to be coachable and trainable, not giving the business a fair shot/giving up too soon, or (especially) just someone trying to promote their new venture using negativity to attract people and playing upon their fears.
If you HONESTLY and TRUTHFULLY want to be an advocate for the consumer and publish unbiased, complete and 100% accurate information, you would be OBJECTIVE and NOT SUBJECTIVE in finding out what REALLY happened in Montana, with the BBB, the provider reps, etc, etc, etc. because the propaganda you’re throwing around is what’s the SCAM here. Granted, Ameriplan is NOT perfect – no company could EVER be especially one of this size; however, this does NOT make it a scam. Is it for everyone? NO! but there’s a Night and Day difference between being a scam and just not a good fit for someone. Huge, HUGE difference. You definitely get out of it what you put into it.
For anyone looking to join Ameriplan, don’t take my word for it, don’t take anyone’s word for it – do your due diligence and research the FACTS using common sense. That’s what I did.
P.S. As for your derogatory comment about the quality of our providers, there again you are DEAD WRONG! Besides, if you think about that comment, you’ll realize how silly it is. Our providers are the same as the providers in major insurance company provider networks. All the major pharmacies. All the major vision centers. Need I say more?!
Most of you are missing the point. There is no question that all of the comments about making money or not making money are true. They are true for all businesses. MLM unfortunately brings in a much greater number of people with no capital that know nothing about business and or selling who after being hit with the harsh realities of making a success fail, or drop out and then blame anything or one other than themselves for lack of success. Every one of these MLM companies have successful people and scads of failures, atleasters, and quitters. So lookingat Ameriplan or Amway etc. as a scam is not the issue.
The real issue with Ameriplan is the product. Most people that are sold the product somehow believe that it is health insurance (reguardless of what the fine print indicates). Most places do not have providers. (As I wrote this i went and checked the provider list for the city I live in and except fot the people that normally give a discount or free session to get you in initially (chiropractors- eyeglasses- or the places that give a discount to hundreds of groups like AARP etc such as pharmacies) there were no providers. No primary care physicians, no Quick care etc. Sure there are some places with a large number of providers... but try to get an appointment, and then try to get a price lst, and then try to haggle over the price it will never happen!(I work with many people in the medical and they wont even deal with this. Yo'll never even get to talk to the doctors about price. In most cases they don't set and don't ven know what the prices are. In addition companies are notorious for raising the price before they give the discount.
The people that purchase these discount plans do so because they can't afford to pay for traditional health or dental insurance and somehow they believe that companies like Ameriplan can do so for a lower price. They know down in their heart that it can't be true but because they are making money (or hoping to) theycontinue on trying to sell it.
In fact AmeriPlan's BBB membership has been suspended since July 2006 and has been revoked on February 12, 2007
The Montana Attorney General in a successful law suit aginst Ameriplan said."
MORRISON ANNOUNCES $200,000 SETTLEMENT WITH AMERIPLAN TO RESOLVE FRAUD ALLEGATIONSMontana Victims to Benefit from SettlementMontana State Auditor John Morrison announced today a settlement agreement with Plano-based AmeriPlan to resolve allegations of insurance and securities fraud. In July of this year, Morrison issued a cease and desist order after charging AmeriPlan USA, its founding officers, Dennis and Daniel Bloom, and Shirl Shelley, a Montana resident, with numerous violations of both the Montana Insurance Code and the Montana Securities Act. The action taken against AmeriPlan was the first of its kind in Montana and possibly the first in the nation, relying on a new law governing medical care discount cards. Morrison requested the legislation last session to ensure that medical care discount card providers were legitimate before they were allowed to sell their products in Montana."This settlement agreement serves to remind medical discount card companies that protecting Montanans is our number one priority," said Morrison. "If discount card providers refuse to play by our new rules, they will pay the price and won?t be allowed to operate in Montana."Under the agreement, AmeriPlan must pay an administrative fine of $200,000 and create a restitution fund for Montana customers who were duped by the company. Montana customers of AmeriPlan can expect to receive a letter informing them that they are eligible to submit a claim to the restitution fund. In addition, AmeriPlan is banned from marketing and selling its products in Montana for two years."Our investigation put a stop to AmeriPlan's Montana activities," said Morrison, "but perhaps more importantly, we were able to get restitution for the victims. People receiving settlement letters will have 30 days to submit a claim - they need to follow the instructions outlined in their letter. Folks can certainly call my office if they have questions."
AmeriPlan and its agents and officers were accused of failing to contract with the medical care providers (including doctors, nurse practitioners, physician?s assistants and hospitals) they advertise as participants in AmeriPlan's medical care discount program. The Auditor alleges that over 700 Montana AmeriPlan members living all across the state were unable to use the discount cards because there were few, if any, providers in Montana. Additionally, AmeriPlan is charged with conducting an illegal pyramid promotional scheme because it sold "broker packages" for the purpose of recruiting memberships. Because the memberships were for discounts that did not exist, Morrison alleged there was no actual product being sold. AmeriPlan's largest source of income in Montana was from the sales of these "broker packages," which were nothing but a pyramid scheme, according to the Auditor's charging document.AmeriPlan's website and other advertising, including oral assertions from some of its agents, claimed to have a substantial number of medical care providers, dentists, and chiropractors contracted to provide a significant discount through the purchase of its card. When the Auditor?s office investigated these claims they were unable to find a single medical care provider or chiropractor who honored the discount cards. The only dentist who had contracted with AmeriPlan was located in Forsyth and was on probationary status with the Montana Board of Dentistry for his unlawful activities in Colorado. The new law requires the discount card companies to have contracts for services with providers located within a 60 mile radius of the card holder. The company was told to stop its activity in November of 2005 but AmeriPlan continued to market its discount cards until the matter was referred to Morrison's legal staff in late April. Additional charges included securities fraud, using deceptive or fraudulent practices in the marketing of their discount cards, selling unregistered securities by unregistered salespersons and failure to stop marketing the cards when they were not properly registered."With insurance premiums on the rise consumers are searching for ways to obtain medical care coverage at a manageable cost," said Morrison. "These fake discount card operators are preying on folks who are trying to find alternative solutions to the high cost of heath insurance. Our main goal is protecting Montanans while aggressively pursuing those bad actors in the industry who are exploiting the health care crisis facing consumers."The settlement agreement can be found at www.mt.gov/sao. Montanans who have questions regarding the settlement can call the State Auditor?s Office at 1-800-332-6148.
The bottom line is that if the product does not preform as it is presented sooner or later the company is doomed.
Wow. A year later and still going strong.

I had ameriplan one month and cancelled it. The plan is not very good for consumers, and they have also created a Sprint account and put me in debt for an extra $331 dollars. I have no idea how to fight those con artists.
I have been doing research on Ameriplan for a few weeks now and after reading this whole page of comments I'm really on the fence it kind of hard to know who to believe yes there are going to be people that have problems with the company there always are...but can it really be that bad? I did the confrence call and everything and it sounded pretty legit to me.
Amerplan is legit and will work if you work at it! This is your business not a JOB! There is nothing I have found in the US that you can start your own business for only $95.00. Only people with the desire and determination to make your business payoff by working it will benefit. If you don't give up and believe in the service, which I do! It will payoff, I promise! I trust in this business I worked it and I have seen my hard work payoff! I now make $1100.00 monthly and I have been with Ameriplan for less than a year. REMEMBER IT IS A BUSINESS, YOUR BUSINESS!! WORK IT AND IT WILL PAY OUT! Good Luck to all who place their trust in Ameriplan USA, a legitimate Company paying out legitimate paychecks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nick C, Whatever are you talking about. How can Ameriplan create a Sprint account for you.
Tend to believe alot of so-called customers on this site are actually IBO's, trying to promote instead of inform. Unfortunately hard to tell who's being honest for honesty's sake. Just visited the BBB site, Ameriplan is no longer accredited with the BBB. Any of you above can legitimately tell me why, I will re-think my negitive view of Ameriplan.
I am a former associate. The dental part will save you some money on fillings and cleanings and such. I was not happy with my crowns but I did get them for about 1/2 price. I sold the plan passively for about 7 years but there is not a lot of money in it. Very limited dentist choices. There are 2 options in my county. Prescr Iiption and medical is a joke.
My friend has AmeriPlan. We tried lot times to contact the doctors on their providers list...most of them didn't answer, or it was an answering machine.. couple doctors that answered, don't participate on the AmeriPlan...
I guess this is scam!!!
I've been a broker for Ameriplan since 2002 and can tell you that it is NOT a scam. I make a nice little income ( >$25,000 a year)from the members who have signed up through my web site. I use the benefits myself in lieu of my BCBS dental insurance because Ameriplan ALWAYS saves me more money. I concentrate my business on enrolling members, not brokers into the dental program. If I find someone who wants to work as a broker, then that's fine. If not - that's OK too. About 99% of the people who get ANY internet business have NO idea what it takes to market online. Those are the people who quit in 3 months.
Rosie et al, recap as to what happened with the BBB…
Approximately 4 years ago Ameriplan expanded into the medical. They started with a leased network with our medical. We received one complaint to the Attorney General in Montana. The complaint was that we had a list of providers in which was a bogus list. They called the list and asked the providers if they accepted “AmeriPlan”. Their answers were that they don’t and they don’t even know who we are. Why would they – they didn’t contract with us – they contracted with Beechstreet (anyone with healthcare background should understand how this works – same with insurance companies (networks of providers) – look at the card. For example, we don’t contract directly with our vision but through coast-to-coast, prescription is through HealthTrans. We do contract directly with our dentists, labs are through medstat, etc. etc.. Same with medical (Beechstreet) – need to use a network until we’ve contracted with enough providers directly.
The issue was resolved with Montana; however, the BBB subsequently 'suspended' AmeriPlan's status - the BBB is not allowed (by their OWN doctrine) to suspend any company unless that company has an open legal action against them (AmeriPlan did not). Note: research how the BBB works – companies buy a membership so not always the best indication. Ameriplan is a member of the US Chamber of Commerce, The Consumer Health Alliance, D&B Listed, Direct Sellers Association and sits on the board of The National Association of Dental Plans. Research the criteria for those organizations.
AmeriPlan's legal team began the process of a lawsuit for wrongful suspension. When the BBB received the legal paperwork from AmeriPlan, that's when they revoked their membership.
Today, most of our medical network is Proprietary meaning we contract directly with our providers. Eventually, when we’ve contracted with a sufficient number of medical providers in the other states (especially the more rural areas), we will no longer need to use a leased network in those areas. I was a Provider Rep for the company so I’m familiar with the provider side of the business. Had the opportunity to meet face to face with many of our providers in my region – I was impressed. Yes some are better than others; however, you’ll find the same with any network of providers of any insurance company as well. All our providers must adhere to same type of credentialing.
I have insurance but I’ve used my Ameriplan card many times when my insurance wouldn’t cover. For example, saved $400 on glasses for my son (insurance only pays $70 toward pair every 24 months and he broke them before that expired (insurance would have paid zero). Dental – unless we’re going for a routine exam, cleaning, etc., we have more out of pocket cost with our insurance than with Ameriplan. Sports physicals for my kids – insurance only covers $50 a piece. Used Ameriplan instead and saved like $110 more a piece than if would have used insurance. So our programs are not only for individuals who can’t afford insurance but also as a supplement to reduce out of pocket of what insurance DOESN’T cover.
Not to mention for ancillary (labs, MRI’s, etc.), our members save up to 80%, the hospital advocacy program, prescription advocacy program, etc. etc. AND our new SecureNet that launches today 9/15 (Identify Theft, National Child ID (only one approved by FBI), Legal Plan, Financial Services, Roadside Assistance) – compare ours with anything else out there (TIP: don’t forget to read the fine print) and you’ll find our SecureNet to be the most comprehensive program on the market with the lowest cost.
Do your due diligence on researching the company to make sure it's a good fit but I suggest when you research, you research facts and not someone's subjective comments. The business isn't for everyone and just because it didn't work for some (usually because they didn't give it a chance or just not a good fit), doesn't make it a scam and I hate to see someone miss out on something that could be the answer for them.
I’ve been an IBO since February 2008. It would have been the best career decision I had made HAD I made it earlier in my life. However, thank God I didn't buy into the negative propaganda and based my decision to join on FACTS because I was able to escape the whole “corporate america” rat race/trap due to Ameriplan.

And, yes, I am an Ameriplan IBO. Been with the company since February 2008. I am the worst skeptic there is and my decision to join was held back for a few weeks due to all the negative junk on the internet that I ran across. However, luckily I dug deeper. Much of the negativity I found was based on someone’s ulterior motive using negativity in attempt to attract people toward what they have or just half truths for misunderstandings. Thank God! I didn't buy into the negative propaganda on the internet when I was researching and based my decision to join on FACTS.
And not that Ameriplan is perfect but I’m sorry there is NO company out there that is, especially of this size.
Ameriplan is a great company check it on cnn and other media

OK I know this is a really old post, but while talking to a Co-Worker about Ameriplan and telling her of my experience with Ameriplan with IBO which wasn't a bad experience I was taking her to the site when I came upon this article. There were current reps stating how it's legit and the person who started the post and many other who said scam.
Even though my experience wasn't bad. I feel like if people are saying something is fraudulent there must be a reason. A trusted site to go to is the BBB site Better Business Bureau. I found that Ameriplan is not accredited by the BBB at all. The rating given was a D. There were 181 complaints filed and none of them were resolved. The complaints were related to customer service, misinformation of products, advertising issues, product issues, contract issues, refund or exchange issues.
I encourage everyone before you try a business to always check the BBB because whether the company is accredited or not the BBB will give them a ratining based off consumer reports and relationships. Being a former IBO with no problems and I cancelled with no problems I wish I could say this is a good business venture. I was thinking about starting back up with them but I can't. The BBB is not just heresay it's accurate information and with a company with a rating of D that's horrible. Check out WWW.BBB.ORG. One more thing when I started Ameriplan had a BBB symbol on their site and when I looked today that symbol that was there years ago is gone. Maybe when they first started they had an A but now they have a D. Go figure...
Wow the last comment about the BBB says it all. Along with the comments from the new reps who recently started and believe so much that they will be making 100k very soon, ohh they can taste it, or the moms with 3 kids who have no other option than to go all in and believe that this will be their salvation. its a lot like certain religions that feed on the desperate, the uneducated, and tell them that it is so amazing to blow them selves up in a crowded market for salvation. drink the cool aid. drink it. it tastes good...
i guess you really have to get burned to know that fire is hot.
I am so glad that so many of you all are doing your research. Research is a very good thing. However, you have to be careful about things that are posted online. Quite often things are posted by disgruntled people and are far from facts. Some things are part facts but twisted to make a company look bad. You should always take it in and use your best judgment. Ask a rep with the company about what you've read, heard, or saw.
I will discuss and clarify somethings about AmeriPlan. Firstly, AmeriPlan®'s corporate address is: AmeriPlan® Corporation, 5700 Democracy Drive, Plano, TX 75024. Again, I think it's important for you to do your research on AmeriPlan®. If you would take out the time to review the videos the company has, such as our features on American Medical Review, 60 minutes with Morely Safer as well as seeing us in publications such as Parent Magazine (May 2008 issue), New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine AND in 2009, we were featured on television stations Oxygen (Owned by Oparah Winfrey), Lifetime and WeTV (which a copy of the commercial is on my site: www.APHomeCareers.info).
I do ask that you understand that the BBB and RipOffReport.com is a place where anyone can turn to vent if they are not happy and no business in the world can make everyone happy at all times. Keep in mind with the BBB companies PURCHASE their memberships. Their affiliations are not earned like memberships with Consumer Health Alliance, Dunn & Bradstreet (https://smallbusiness.dnb.com/ePlatform/servlet/se Chamber of Commerce, Direct Sellers Association (http://dsa.org/forms/CompanyFormPublicMembers/view National Association of Dental Plans (http://nadp.org/page.asp?strLoadModule=member&lngM and many more. AmeriPlan is a member in good standing with all of those associations. You have to uphold their code of ethics and pass certain requirements to be associated with those national organizations.
If you were to look up reports on Microsoft you'll find thousands of thousands of complaints but it doesn't stop people from using Windows or Vista.
The same here with AmeriPlan®. AmeriPlan® was working with a provider network in the state of Montana and the network was having some issues, so AmeriPlan® quickly resolved them. The BBB subsequently 'suspended' AmeriPlan's® status - the BBB is not allowed (by their OWN doctrine) to suspend any company unless that company has an open legal action against them (AmeriPlan® did not).
AmeriPlan's® legal team began the process of a lawsuit for wrongful suspension. When the BBB received the legal paperwork from AmeriPlan®, that's when they revoked their membership.
If all people that felt the need to put down a company had all the facts about a company, there might not be such a negative nature to people's attitudes regarding home-based businesses as being scams.
Being an Independent Business Owner myself, I find it disheartening to see that a non-profit organization like the BBB (who is run by several corporations), seem to have some sort of 'power' over people's perception of how a company works. It's obvious that the BBB's handling of this situation is not good business practice - what company is? All I ever ask of anyone looking into my business is that they make sure to have ALL the facts before passing judgement.
We as a company did what was asked and we are 100% satisfied with how we handled this and our integrity. There are currently 45 MILLION people in America who are underinsured or not insured and we are dedicated to helping these individuals.
I encourage you to review a site WELL KNOWN as a place to submit complaints. This company is Rip Off Report. This is what they have to say about AmeriPlan® and how we are committed to our members.
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/268/RipOff02
I'm sure there are people who are unhappy for one reason or another with Ameriplan®; this is bound to happen when you have nearly 2 million members on our plans, 250 corporate employees, and 60,000 business owners/ home-based reps nationwide.
AmeriPlan® partners with HUGE companies, such as Health Trans, Coast to Coast Vision, and many fortune 500 companies such as Target, WalMart, Pearlsvision, Lenscrafters, CVS, Walgreens, and so forth. These companies have high powered attorneys who they consult with and I'm sure if AmeriPlan® was not a forthright company these attorneys would not allow their clients reputation to be jeopardized by partnering with us. In addition, I'll repeat we are members of the US Chamber of Commerce, The National Association of Dental Plans, The Consumer Health Alliance, and Dun & Bradstreet. None of these associations would allow us to be a member if we were not legitimate and if we did not do our part to address any consumer complaints.
I'm quite sure that if you continue your research you'll find more positive than negative.
If we all spent more time focusing on making a difference, putting out positive energies and less time bashing companies, more people would be getting somewhere. It is not worth my time or energy to get in a dispute with anyone. I know what this company is and is not. I've personally saved over $20,000 in healthcare expenses last year, over $5,000 in day to day expenses and not to mention received an extra $5,000 back in my taxes just for owning a business with AmeriPlan. I am a single mother and all I do is AmeriPlan and this is working out for me. But to each his/her own. You have to figure out for yourself what opportunity is a fit for you. AmeriPlan has been around for almost 18 years now and works with too many Fortune 500 companies, organizations, doctors, specialist, banking institutions to be a scam. This opportunity IS NOT for everyone. Network Marketing IS NOT for everyone. You have to find out what is a right fit for you, your situation and your family. NEVER make a decision based off of consumer reports... use those reports to help you come to a decision, but don't base your decision soley off of postings on the internet. Many people tell false things. For any business you look into, ALWAYS do your research, ALWAYS ask questions. NEVER call a company a scam without full proof that it is. I have been dealt with cases where companies are cracking down and suing people from what they are posting on the internet about their companies-- so be careful!
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors no matter what they be!
Many Blessings!
It is good to hear people express positive commits about AmeriPlan, but these same folks keep saying to do your due diligence and research blah, blah, blah! At least Jaslive, albeit negative comments gave links to support his position. If you want to talk about due diligence then give use new seekers here links or sites that support your positive position about Ameriplan,(NO HYPE!) otherwise you sound like some damn cheerleading infomercial here!
First of all, we have people who scream "scam" if something doesn't go their way. I am interested in possibly signing up for this company for work. I am disabled and cannot get out to a regular job and I'm also a student. So the opportunity to stay at home and work and still do my studies is appealing. I do my research on companies before venturing in. I wouldn't have it any other way. From what I have read of this company, seems that they are a valid, legit company. All places that serve the public have issues. People want a quick fix and they want it now when they don't get it they whine and complain.
I used to work for a popular "supplemental" health and life company, who shall remain nameless. It was a total waste of my time. I didn't like going to appointments I set up,only to be turned away. I wasted time and gas. I didn't like being lied to and told I would be reimbursed by the company after taking the insurance licensing exam.
This AmeriPlan seems like something I'd do a lot better with. I live in Massachusetts and it's now a law that every resident in Massachusetts is required to carry health insurance. Many cannot afford it. The one's who can't get state Medicade and it covers very little. Something like AmeriPlan may just be what a lot people here need. I am willing to give this a shot. The negative comments on here are discouraging for people who may be interested in signing up to work. I am aware I'd be stating my own business and there's an investment. I'm ready to take it on!
Surprise, Surprise!! I'm not surprised. Just did a provider search in my area. Providers galore! The search came back with 20+ pages of providers in my area in almost every category. Hopefully the list is current. If so, I could do quite well with this. Looking forward to finding out more and now I am even more interested in signing up!
I have been with Ameriplan for almost 2 years. I am a Senior Regional Sales Director(SRSD) This is truly the only home based business that has ever worked for me. I looked for 2 years trying to find something that was legit and make money to where i can stay home with my kids and raise them not no daycare. And i am truly blessed that Ameriplan has givin that to me! We have an A rating with the BBB so if we was a scam i don't think that Rating would be possible! If anyone would like to get started again please give me a call at 800-972-0857 or watch the webinar again that i had listed it will reassure all the skeptics out there! I was one and now i am not!
I have been reading all these Negative remarks about Ameriplan. This is a business and just like any other, you have to work to build it from scratch. It isn't going to come knocking on your door looking to happen. You have to go to make it happen not going to fall in your lap and be a success over night. This is not a get rich quick scheme. It takes work, time and dedication. If you are not Passionate in changing your future and are satisfied in living paycheck to paycheck then yes Ameriplan is not the right company for you.But if you want a change and are willing to put the time, effort and dedication in it then yes, we are the right one for you. I have not found a company yet that offers one on one training, and awesome training site, tons of LIVE Daily training telephone conferences and can communicate with LIVE people instead of an automatic email system. They are Members of the Chamber of Commerce,National Association of Dental Plans, The direct Sellers Association and we are in partnership with the FBI on one of our programs that we offer! So there does that Clarify up all this Negativity about Ameriplan! I would love to talk to anyone that has negativity about Ameriplan anytime. Just give me a call at 800-972-0857! Been here 2 years in April of 2010
Beware of Ameriplan. I worked in the corporate building for many years and I would suggest that any rumors or complaints that you hear about are true and you should give a lot of consideration to before continuing or signing up with them. I believe that if you didn't get your packet or cards it is because they did not want you to and if you didn't get cancelled it is because they did not want you to. If you are currently a IBO with Ameriplan I would strongly suggest you invest your money and not depend on a 'Lifetime Residual'.
JazLive, do you have any recommendations for reputable work at home businesses?
I'VE BEEN READING ALL THE POST ON THIS SITE SOME NEGATIVE AND SOME POSITIVE.PEOPLE KEEP MENTIONING RIPOFF REPORT FOR INFO.I CHECKED WITH BBB IN TEMPE,AZ AND THEY GIVE XCENTRIC VENTURE,LLC.(RIPOFF REPORT) A GRADE OF F 27 COMPLAINTS 27 NOT RESPONDED TO.OWNER ED MAGDENSON HAS LAWSUITS ALMOST IN EVERY STATE ALSO HAS A BAD BACKGROUND.
Wow does it ever make me sick about all the people who go spatter crap out of their mouth about things they know nothing about! If Ameriplan (formerly Ameriplan USA) is such a scam, could you explain to me why it is I continue to receive residual checks in the mail for the members and IBOs I've enrolled? When you research a company, stop taking other peoples' word for it and start looking at the facts. Ameriplan has been around for 18 years, they're partnered with tons of Fortune 500 co's like Target, Walmart, CVS, heck they're partnered with the FBI! I don't know who Mark Jarvis is, nor do I honestly care, because I know for a fact that Ameriplan is not a scam. People who choose to sign up and expect a paycheck for breathing need to wake up and stop calling something a scam because you didn't work it. And for my sanity's sake, LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A JOB AND A BUSINESS.
My name is Dan. I am going to try the Ameriplan I spoke with Jami Krueger here are the things i am if about that you have to get people to join before you get paid. Now if it ends up as a scam I will come back on there and post my update. Everyone have a good day.
These IBO comments remind me of the Zero1 cell phone scam. No product, nothing real people could use, but the MLM reps would attack anyone who even questioned Zero1's unfulfilled promises. If AmeriPlan has been around since 1992 and it is so great, why isn't it more popular with people other than the MLMers? Just another MLM scam.
I have been with ameriplan it will be two weeks this Thursday. I am not saying its fraud or scam. But I will say this. Dont quit your daytime job to do this full time. Its a long process. You got to make sales or no pay. I knew that going into it. You cant expect it to do the work for you. You wont get rich doing this. Its a secondary job thats about it. if you are going into it think something else dont. Thats all im saying about this company. I still work for them. I work 40 hours a week for them doing stuff still havent got one sale yet.
I got into Ameriplan, and I was taken!! The Freedom pass is not worth the money you have to pay each month for it, and they misled us as time went on. You make money as you bring others in. Then two months ago they changed the game. You get less money now then before, and you will come out with a negative income. We have found many mistakes on the website and their set-up really does look like and acts like a pyramid. They suck you in and then change the rules.
Here I am looking for low-cost insurance, since being unemployed in one highest rated unemployment cities in the U.S., I stumble upon this blog and find it quite informative.
In short, I learned Ameriplan offers a great "making-money" pyramid scheme to its reps. It's not just great, but lucrative for very-incredibly-extremely passionate reps. It must be so for all the support its getting. Well that's dandy if you're on this blog for the "money-making" opportunities.. so please continue touting your support.
As far as I'm concerned, as a potential client, I'm not quite convinced. I've contacted their reps for my area, unfortunately no reliable info "can" be given of their plans, discounts, and network of doctors or providers.
But, the alternative is that I should consider the "money-making" scheme as a way to increase my income so I can get better coverage elsewhere.
What a sudden revelation here--I've been going at this all wrong! And this I must blame only myself for... thanks for bring me into the light. Bravo REPS!!! I'm sold that you benefit!
I just started with Ameriplan and I love working from home. I have research Ameriplan since 2006 and i step out on faith .just like all business you have to put some work into it . If you will like more information please email me at CARDENAS@ameriplan.net
Well I have been looking to get into affiliate marketing. I stumbled upon AmeriPlan during that search. Seemed interesting. But their plan is more expensive than that of some real insurance companies like Aetna. And the availability stinks in comparison. For example with AmeriPlan I would have less than 10 choices within 30 miles of my home for discount dental care. And 3 of those were the same practice just different offices. With the Aetna plan there were over 150. Yeah 15 times as many. And it's cheaper. So I have to look further to see why I should consider AmeriPlan.
I see there are residuals. No one else offers that. A plus. But then I read them saying in 2009 they were suspending outreach to new providers because the current providers weren't getting enough business. Strike 1. Then I see they were tossed from the BBB and currently have an F. Strike 2. Then I see what happened in Montana. Strike 3. And despite what was said above most(if not all) of the organizations they are still part of are fee based just like the BBB or do no policing of membership. For example you pay the NAPD anywhere from 3000 to 40000 to be a member. So anyone can do it as long as they can write a check. It is pretty much meaningless. As for the Chamber of Commerce it is pretty easy to join and it doesn't police it's membership, sorry doesn't impress me. So all those memberships aren't all that special.
This is a your typical MLM. The only way you make big money is bringing in new people in your downline. Selling the product is not as important as getting more people. You can see that with the way they incentivise their sale force. I can't find much push for selling lots of plans. I see plenty for recruiting lots of people.
Is it a scam? Depends on where you sit I guess. I just know it isn't what I wanted and people should understand this is no different than most other MLMs at it's heart. As long as that's the game you want into that's great. Just be aware that's what it is. Be prepared for having to go to "conventions" on your dime "if you really want to be successful!". Be prepared to spend money on the stuff they will start selling you pretty quickly to "help your business". Be prepared to be pushed every day to recruit, recruit, recruit. As long as you can foot the bill long enough to make some money and you want to recruit everyone you know into your "sales force" then you should be thrilled with it. Not for me.
Another thing...Jde, we're not required to attend any of the conventions, they're all optional and YES we do have to pay to go, because they're not mandatory - if they were and we still had to foot our own bill, then I'd be concerned. And we don't upsell anything else to you once you join, nor are you pushed to recruit, recruit, recruit. I don't know where you got that information but whoever is doing that to you is only out to make a buck. The point of the discount plans is to help those who can't get insurance, but don't qualify for state aid. At least that's what I tell people and what other reps tell people. If you can afford health insurance, by all means, that's what you should use. Ameriplan discounts are just meant for those in between.
Very good information on this site that I'll have to forward to my team.
This Unique Program pays $500 CASH after cycles plus they're giving away 99 cruises to the Bahamas during their first 99 days!! You'll have fun starting a home based business http://www.myonlinematrixmom.com Unique Internet business opportunities don't come often like this one.
AMERIPLAN is essentially not a scam. Having said that, do please proceed with great caution with this organization/set-up.
The only real money-earning opportunities that they talk about is in the concept of an IBO (Independent Business Operator). This basically means that you do your own sales and training. The company will provide you with tons of training videos and then you are on your own. You have to make your own sales targets and they will give you NO leads. In fact, if you want sales leads then you have to pay for that. Then, the online training videos are just way too much to go through....and without having gone through their videos you may never really understand their sales structure, the commissions logic or even the sales progression system.
However, if you have the time (at least 30-40 hours in the first couple of weeks to go through the online videos and then about 20-30 hours later each week to develop your own sales leads and make the weekly sales targets) and the discipline, then you could do it. I would say that if you actually have that sort of time and discipline then you would be way better off taking up a real job or doing your own business.
The online negative thing with this organization is that their paperwork (online and hardcopy) very cunningly hides the fact that you need to give them 30-days notice if you wish to cancel your account. They will charge you for the whole month if you decide to cancel without the compulsory 30-days notice. This I believe is unfair and wrong. So if you don't want to caught in that situation then be aware of this and plan around it.
Finally, before you sign up here are a couple of things to get cleared up with them:
1. Will they provide you any sales leads/
2. If so, do you have to pay for them?
3. Are these sales leads given exclusively to you or available to all?
NOTE: the company puts up ads in various media and so have loads of customers who call-in or email to inquire. I believe that the company sells this data to the IBO's whereas they should be offering this for free to the IBO's.
4. Get complete clarity about the sales commission system.
5. Be prepared to go through hundred of hours of videos: in your first couple of weeks alone you may need to go through some dozen or more videos to understand the organization, their sales system, the commission system and the progression system.
6. Get complete information on how to cancel before you sign on. Especially ask about the exact process, the phone number to call, the email ID to send the mail and the time duration to process the cancellation.
Bottomline: this organization has outgrown its concept of home business. At this point their customers are the IBO's themselves. In other words, as an IBO you will be paying your $100 monthly fees, plus a host of other fees ranging from $50 to $200 for important marketing tools like sales leads, ad packages, etc...all of which are essential to break-even. And then finally, you will need to spend at least 30-35 hours a week on this "home business" for it to really pay.
So if you are up for that then this may be your cup of tea. And if you have a spouse who can also work with you on this then perhaps you could even be successful! Don't forget most of their success stories involve ladies working from home...with husbands who assist them part-time or full-time in this business. A number of their sales directors/ national sales directors/ etc are individuals who will usually have a spouse answering the phone calls from lower line sales associates. So, the "at-home-lady" is the main IBO and she most probably makes the sales calls. The spouse assists her fulltime or partime by handling calls from all current clients/ sales associates (which they refer to as left-leg and right-leg sales teams). In effect, this becomes a family business. All the more better if you have teenage kids to double up as additional sales staff. This could be a great family business!
My advise: as with all things step with caution. Know all you can before you leap. If you are married discuss this with your spouse: both of you will need to leave your day-jobs and work on this for it to be really successful. If you got teenage kids, plan to recruit them too. Be willing to spend more effort that a usual day-job on this. And if you decide to cancel, plan it 30-days in advance of your membership fee billing date. You can get that date from your credit card billing statement......of yes, you will need to have a credit card to enroll...nothing else will do!
Wow there is so much misunderstanding and misinformation here it is crazy...
I would say Ameriplan is legit...as long as it is sold for what it actually is...the problem is prospects are so naive...
the problem I have for an IBO, you won't qualify for any overrides until you are a SRSD in Ameriplan...so what's the point of calling you an RSD (regional sales director) if you aren't actually earning any override commissions...?
SO technically, until an IBO reaches RSD... the entire commissions of that plan membership (20%+15%+10%+5%+3% etc) which comes out to about 55% total...IS NOT BEING PAID!! Only the initial 20% for the direct enrolling IBO of that membership...until they are RSD and 2 others recruited by the upline also become RSD...
THAT'S ALOT of memberships with full commissions not being paid...and if the IBO quits....then are commissions or overrides every paid out any more at all for that membership?
Now I'm not saying this is a scam...it is what it is...it's up to you to understand exactly what's going on here... but look at another company like say pre paid legal, where the entire commission of the membership sale is being paid out from sale #1...
It gets complex, there's a bit of detail, but you must understand, with ameriplan you will not see a single override until you are SRSD... so they have AP flex which does allow for more up front, but seriously, how many memberships can you sell at $100 a month...? I would assume that youd have a fairly high attrition rate...people need to really use the benefits and have a good experience right away to keep something that cost $100 every month...
but like i say, the one major fundamental flaw I see with ameriplan is that the full commissions of a membership are not being paid out right away and possibly never...
Im just using Pre paid legal as an example to compare to, if you look at their comp plan, you see you can earn alot more up front cash and you earn overrides starting like right away and they are significant.... its alot easier to get promoted and you get most of commission when a new partner of yours makes a sale, yet they can fairly easily get promoted to the same position.... you have to really study it to understand...
I wouldn't say that these companies are so much scams as they are simply very misunderstood...
always me
Perhaps the reason Ameriplan insist on a remaining a privately help company is because they don't want the scrutiny that a public offering would bring...
I would want to know what percentage of active ameriplan members are "orphaned" or actually more like what percentage of memberships are NOT having full commissions from fees being paid out to IBOs...
or easier, what percentage of ameriplan memberships is ameriplan getting at or near 100% of the profit for... memberships enrolled by cancelled IBOs and IBOs that do not promote etc...
Does this indeed mean that until they are an RSD, when a new IBO enrolls a member, there is no override being paid to any upline anywhere except for corporate???
because alot of people surely come in and get memberships but don't become RSDs...
plus if your doing group presentations for a new IBO and their warm list, how are you supposed to really be driven to help them out with presentations when you wont even earn any money the night of a presentation...
lets say you a do a private presentation for an IBO and their "invites" well if you are just an IBO or RSD, you are likely not going to make any money even if a few people sign up with the new partner...
wouldnt it be nice if somehow you could get some more immediate overrides so that the system is more duplicatable and people get checks for quicker and uplines could really focus on helping their new partners more right from the start....
how can you help your new partner if you are hardly making any money...??? especially if you live where the cost of living is high..?
Buyers, please BEWARE! I don't know about Ameriplan's business plan, but I can tell you that their medical discounts are a complete scam. I selected a dentist from Ameriplan's engine and was in for a huge scam. I was quoted about 1000 dollars on Ameriplan's website for a root canal, but when I arrived at the dentist office they quoted me over 2600 dollars! When I asked them about Ameriplan discount, they said they did not know anything about it and that they were sorry if I was given the wrong impression. This seems to be the commonality here, Ameriplan lists medical practices and quotes on their website and meanwhile the practices have no clue as to what is going on! Please believe the ripoff reports! I ended up going to another (non-Ameriplan) dentist who charged me 1400 dollars for both a root canal and bridge and they did a wonderful job. Trust me, there are other options out there. Save yourself a headache and do not get Ameriplan. There are many practices willing to cut you some financial slack.
Good luck!
Been interesting reading this blog. Ironically I used to sell Care Entree about 8-9 yrs ago which is similar to Ameriplan. I was making nice residual paychecks. I quit when my divorce and job were taking too much out of me. I kick myself for quitting. Back then someone approached me with Ameriplan but at the time it was just a dental savings, and I felt like Ameriplan was just a piece of the pie, and Care Entree sold the whole pie (discounts on medical, dentists, chirpractors, lab, etc). Back in August of 2009 I had a coupon for a free dental visit and xrays. I went to the dentist and he quoted what my mouth needed. Then he gave me the prices. We cannot afford insurance for me, so I would have to pay cash. I choked. He told me about this discount plan and gave me a paper on it. I took it home researched it, and that day became an agent. There was no cost to join as an agent. There is no pyramid. You make 25% on all your members and if you refer anyone as an agent you make 5% of theirs. You also make $10 off the $20 enrollment. Very simple to explain. When the Ameriplan rep tried to recruit me years ago, I don't know if it was just him, or if it was confusing, but I like plain and simple, easy to explain. Easily duplicatable. If you are interested in this program, call me at 405-702-4002. Make sure you leave a message if you get my machine. I am a stay at home mom with 6 kids. I have never sold Ameriplan, and the reason I didn't sign up with them last year was they didn't have any dental providers near me. This company has lots of choices, and did I mention it didn't cost to join as an agent. Free agent tools. Like anything you have to work it to work. I have been an AVON lady for almost 4 yrs and have worked by butt off to get where I am now. I like this health care solution idea because so many people need it, and I like to help people. I like win-win scenarios. Kudos to those of you making awesome money with Ameriplan. Some people think because they can't get rich quick, that it is a scam. ANY business is going to take time, dedication and an investment. God bless America...and having the ability to choose what we want to be when we grow up! :-)
Can someone who works for AmeriPlan give me an email so I could possibly have some questions answered? I have found a few email addresses on this blog, and everytime I try to send something, it comes back and the message is undeliverable........
looks to me like they got an A on the bbb website
Ameriplan is a legitimate company. I have been there for 16 years and they never have missed a check! Good Morning America just featured us 8 2010 and Forbes in January 2010. Anyone that says different is just a person who did not work! We have over 30 people that have made over 1 million dollars. The medical plan save my boyfriend's life along with over 40k. If you want a business partener that actually teaches you how to make money. Check out my site.www.iboplus.com/details.
I signed up. The person above me was brief with her answers and did not spend much time initially going over the most important part. She told me an ANNUAL fee of 19.95 for the website. Well i found out it is monthly, i thought it odd only anual fee. Anyway, that right there put a bad taste in my mouth. Next. It is JUST LIKE PRIMERICA of which i had been involved and no thanx. You work your butt off to make the people above you rich. I signed up a few days ago and after listening to training tapes and scouring the whole website, i decided to cancel my credit card right off the bat. I refuse to be a part of something that sucks the lifeblood out of you like primerica did.
Avoid this Ameriplan Scam Artist 719-357-3328. This man preys on desperate indivduals looking for work and promises them a legitimate job only to take you for hundreds of dollars and a waste of your time. My friend and I have been in sales for over 20 years and this guy made everything sound good in the training class whick was comprised of any crackhead you can find on the street. When we started asking questions about how he promised us leads and guaranteed income daily he got fustrated and blew us off. I'm not saying this business is a rip off however this is multilevel marketing and you all know how that goes.
I was a paid actor for this company. PAID ACTOR1 I am violating my confidentialty agreement, but I thought I'd warn everyone since the economy is so bad. I know people are desperate in these times, but come on, people, use your heads. How legit do you think this company is if they don't even use spell-check on their official website???
Here's a clue: They offer a product (medical/dental discounts). When a "member" goes to the Ameriplan website to get provider info, etc., it looks like it was designed in 1999. Seriously. You can't sign-in to get member info, change credit cards, etc. strictly bargain basement. I'm guessing there is a fairly updated system though for those SELLING the "Ameriplan" plan to exchange information with the corporate office. And by the way, the corporate office is in one of the most expensive office parks in the "Legacy" district of Plano, TX. VERY upscale. So, they can afford to office out of Legacy, but throw up an all-HTML, 199-era website (the business card of any company in the 21st century).
The Ameriplan priorities are out of whack. I learned all this after calling for basic information and to change my credit card. Only then did I learn how disorganized and MLM-driven they are. The product? Ahhhh....an afterthought.
See the movie, "Children Of Invention." PLEASE.
For all those who think Ameriplan is a scam..I got NEW's for you..I work for Ameriplan and Its just as real as AVON..please Check out our site and contact us if you have any question's.
I was with this company from 2006-2009/2010 and I made it up to SRSD which was no easy task. This company is very shady. The people you sign up with will steal the people you have recruited into your business. My upline not only called my active brokers when they were doing well and told them to quit and re-sign with them in 6 months but then she went through all my cancelled brokers list and called them to enroll them under her. I was told by her upline that I was being negative and needed to think more positive and just keep recruiting. This company is pretty much no different than any other large corporation out there... they have very little morals or ethics and whoever steps on the most people makes it to the top. FYI: The only reason there are all of a sudden so many rich people at the top is because the guy at the top of the food chain quit and they split up his downline over the top people. Again this company is really no different than any other and for me personally I just could not continue to be dishonest with people about my personal experience and the fact that you really do need to spend $200-$400/Month on advertising and leads in order to make it work. My tax preparer laughed at me each year because I only made a little over my expenses. The internet is a great tool and you can learn a lot from other people's experiences before making a decision about any company online or offline.
That is a very old movie below. AmeriPlan WAS good until they started to take away from their people. This is a company I beleived in for many years and did acheive good success with. But then I woke up. I found greed at the top and sadness for the rest. The company has changes and I do not reccomend it. I started in a different company and made more in 15 minutes then I did in my first 6 months in AmeriPlan. I am all about the truth. AmeriPlan stopped caring about the people that needed to feed their families. Now I get my groceries for free and make a great income. Sorry AmeriPlan! You did it to yourself. Maybe you should gave up the jet instead of taking our commissions and roll ups not to mention 401K, ADD&D, etc.
Wow, WeRNotGoin2TakeIt what new company do you work for? I was considering Ameriplan but now I don't know.
I was with Ameriplan for about 4 years and although I know it is a legit company, I was just disappointed at many things. First, I noticed how people "stacked" in order to help those on top promote. Clearly these are people who have good names in the Ameriplan corp. However, these are the very same people who are breaking the rules found on the policy manual about "stacking". It clearly states it is not allowed and it is grounds for immediate termination. Those who they helped promote were already making thousands a month while others such as myself were struggling trying to make a couple of bucks. If they want to break the rules and stack...why not do so to help those at the bottom. This action really made me have a negative look at the company.
I am still with Ameriplan and will stay with them. Anonymous: We don't have a credit card so apparently you were with Ameriplan Financial, not AmeriPlanUSA, a legit company. Jennifer: Don't know if you ever talked to anyone yet, but you can contact me if you like NVPLou@hotmail.com. Also I don't know where the person paying $19.95 per month to be an IBO is at. AmeriPlan is currently at $19.95 per Year. BTW I am not a NVP yet, but that is my goal and I am willing to help anyone on my downline to reach that position also. I will also help anyone else in any sideline when I can. I still state Ameriplan is a great opportunity IF you are willing to work at it. No work no pay, even jobs will do that to you. Wasteof time. I know personally who you are talking about, if you have any questions feel free to contact me and I will answer any questions you have.
Don't really know much about the company. I guess it depends on the person.
I'm a nurse, but I have actually decided to commit most of my time to Ameriplan. I am fairly new to the company, but I have to say it's definitely legit if you are willing to put in honest effort. I am absolutely loving it so far. It's a real service that people actually need, so it's easy for me to believe in it and sell it.
Looks like AmeriPlan just terminated an estimated 900 IBO's, without cause. Sad for the network marketing industry.
I can't believe that Ameriplan would just cancel 900 IBO's just like that. Why would they do that? They know that they would get heat from other IBO's whether it be up or down the MLM business. This would just scare all of the other brokers in the organization. There must have been more to it than we know of.
I have found some good information on http://ameriplanscam.com that has bee trying to keep abreast of the information.
My brother is part of Ameriplan and he believes that the company is doing well for him. I hope that he is not wrong.
Founded in 1992, AmeriPlan® Corporation is a successful, multi-million dollar company. AmeriPlan’s services save our members millions of dollars each year on dental, vision, prescription, chiropractic and medical health care costs. Our membership base exceeds one million lives.
http://www.freetoworkathome.net/aboutus
Some 50,000 Independent Business Owners (IBOs) market AmeriPlan’s services in 44 states. The ongoing expansion of our health care provider networks presents a unique opportunity to serve our members and IBOs.
Who in there right mind would leave there job and make somebody whom they never met rich. A broker, ipo, president, vp all a bunch of crap, see if u make it to the top of the pyramid..
Ameriplan is basically a scam. I joined 5 years ago and left 4 years ago. It did not work in my area. The physicians give cash paying patients their own discounts and not too many Practitioners were interested in joining Ameriplan. Few and far between were the Dentists that participated where I live. Even when I tried to do a nationwide website listing there were problems with getting dentists close enough.
Just STOP! You all sound like a bunch of children on the playground. Like all MLM's, and all companies For that matter, they are designed in such a way so that the top get fat, while the 99+% slave away at Pursuing the "American Dream." Wake up people. Only a small fraction of a % really make it. The fact is this: You're gonna die, die broke, so you may as well figure out a way to die with a smile on your faces.
The membership is not a scam. My mom saved 50% off prescription drugs at Walgreens. People think its a scam in reality it is hard to make it to the top as business owner or Rep. All hospitals accept them and its great for the hospital advocacy/emergency. You just tell them to bill you then report to them as long as you know it will be over 2k they have covered up to 80-100%. I agree with the economy is so bad, people get desperate and they shouldn't still have these hype videos up. MLM is always challenging and they make it harder for others to make it to the top. I use to work with them twice but quit bc it is very hard and not worth spending the money on advertisement. I just rather have the membership. And it does work nationwide. You should always ask the provider before going in if they accept and how much it would be. If they are rude to me I do not go there...it is because it is a good discount. Some places might lie if they are a small practice because they are desperate for more and they shouldn't. I dealt with rude people who try to bill me more at the dentist and I would refuse (they also accept). I just won't go back there. Always ask for a consultation and pay first if you can. People can and will be rude to be RUDE.
I don't know how much money a broker will actually make in the end. However, I do believe that the membership fee is worth it for a non-insured family. This includes EVERYONE in the household. I know a number of people that have saved on Prescription Vision with the Plan.
Just enrolled to be an IBO about 3 weeks ago, will have to see how it goes. I have not had to invest a lot of money ($40), and have gotten a lot of leads and interviews.
I used this type of service before I received medical benefits from my current employer and i saved me money. Its also amazing how the same individuals pop-up every-time a new venture is launched claiming its a scam until you read that "THEY have better offer"
I have been an IBO since Aug 2011. I'm finding it's a good solid company with a product everyone needs. I'm not setting any records but I also didn't come into the business wanting too. I've done several other "at home" business' and this one I plan on keeping. I say if your thinking about joining keep in mind nothing is handed to you except a wonderful training, great team members, we do get free leads but the ones we get on our own are the best. I'm a proud member of the Freedom At Home Team and will encourage any one to try it for 3 months - a year, use the discounts offered & just maybe you will find this is a solid company.
If Ameriplan was a scam they wouldn't have a A+ Rating with the BBB! you idiots http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/medical

I was scammed by AL Williams, and that's why I wont' even TOUCH Ameriplan.
